Two more join Sam Mendes' road trip
Jeff Daniels (State of Play) and Catherine O'Hara (Where the Wild Things Are) joined the cast of This Must Be the Place, a comedy to be directed by Sam Mendes (American Beauty). In the film, Toni Collette plays a woman who searches the country to find the best place for family friends (John Krasinki and Maya Rudolph) to raise their unborn child. The flick also stars Allison Janney, Cheryl Hines, Carmen Ejogo, Jim Gaffigan, Melanie Lynskey, Chris Messina, Kevin J. O'Connor and Paul Schneider. Production begins this week in Connecticut.

Juno's Janney picks up 2 more comedy projects
After making a splash in last year's break-out comedy Juno, Allison Janney signed on for roles in two more comic ventures: This Must Be the Place and A Thousand Words. In the former, which re-teams Janney with American Beauty director Sam Mendes, Janney will play a loud, un-PC woman who meets up with a former employee (Maya Rudolph) who is traveling the country with her husband (John Krasinski) to find the best place to raise their child. In the latter, Janney will play the boss of Eddie Murphy's character, a man who learns he can say just 1,000 more words before he dies.

Sunshine mom hits the road with Mendes
Toni Collette (Little Miss Sunshine) will play a college professor in American Beauty director Sam Mendes' latest feature, an untitled relationship comedy for Focus Features. In the film, Collette searches the country to find the best place for family friends (John Krasinki and Maya Rudolph) to raise their unborn child. Dave Eggers (Where the Wild Things Are) penned the screenplay with his wife, author Vendela Vida. Cheryl Hines (HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm) will also appear in the film, expected to begin this month in Connecticut.
