Ron Perlman set for gang lord role
Ron Perlman will go evil in Bunraku, a hybrid martial arts film set in a hyperstylized universe a la Sin City. The story is about a drifter (Josh Hartnett) who teams up with a samurai (Gackt Sugata) to take down an Eastern European gang lord (Perlman). Other actors already signed on include Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson, Kevin McKidd and Jordi Molla.

Moore picks up two films on the indie circuit
Demi Moore (Mr. Brooks) took a jump onto the indie bandwagon, signing on to star in two separate independent film projects. Alongside Parkey Posey (For Your Consideration), Moore will topline Happy Tears from filmmaker Mitchell Lichtenstein (Teeth). The story is about a woman (Posey) who returns to her home in Wisconsin and must deal with her bitter sister (Moore) and her father. The other project is Bunraku, written and directed by Buy Moshe (Holly). The story is about a man (Josh Hartnett) who finds himself in a bigger fight then he bargained for when seeking revenge.

Hartnett dons a black belt
Josh Hartnett (August) will enter the world of martial arts in Bunraku, from writer-director Guy Moshe (Holly). The film is a live-action telling of a classic story about a drifter (Hartnett) who enters a town in the tradition of a mix of Westerns, samurai movies and gangster movies. It is set in an original universe, like Sin City.
