Francis Ford Coppola's latest stops production
Production shut down on Francis Ford Coppola's Tetro because the Argentinian actors union claims actors working on the film have been doing so without a contract. However, Coppola's spokeswoman said production is proceeding as planned. "There are no holds on shooting, no problem with actors," said Kathleen Talbert in an e-mail to The Hollywood Reporter. "In fact, the majority of the Argentine actors have already wrapped the shooting."

Coppola performs sex change operation
Carmen Maura (Volver) will replace Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) in Tetro, a family drama that began shooting March 31 in Buenos Aires by writer-director Francis Ford Coppola. "One of the important roles in the script is a mentor and teacher to Tetro (Vincent Gallo), and I originally wrote it for a man," Coppola said. "As I read and reread (the script), I felt that the interaction between the two characters would be far more intriguing if they were of the opposite sex." According to another source involved in the deal, Bardem "became unavailable" for Coppola's project and began reading scripts for his next project -- Rob Marshall's Nine.
