Bello to take over for departed Gyllenhaal

Maria Bello (The Jane Austen Book Club) is in final talks to appear in The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, taking over the role Maggie Gyllenhaal vacated due to conflicting schedules. If signed, Bello will be the mother of the title character (Robin Wright Penn), whose life is changed after her husband leaves her.

Miller's all-star cast keeps growing

Keanu Reeves (The Day the Earth Stood Still), Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Dark Knight), Alan Arkin (Marley & Me) and Monica Bellucci (Ne te retourne pas) signed on to star in The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, a film from writer-director Rebecca Miller (Proof) that already has Robin Wright Penn, Winona Ryder and Julianne Moore attached to the project. Adapted from an upcoming novel by Miller, daughter of playwright Arthur Miller, the dramedy is about "a dutiful 50-year-old wife whose husband falls for a younger woman, freeing her to explore her buried sensuality and leading to a very quiet nervous breakdown." The film is expected to begin production in Connecticut in April.

Penn to play Pippa

Robin Wright Penn will co-star with Julianne Moore and Winona Ryder in Rebecca Miller's The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. In the film, based on Miller's novel, Penn will play Pippa, a woman who loses her husband to a younger woman. Pippa then exposes herself to erotic adventures on her way towards a nervous breakdown. Principal photography will begin in the spring in Connecticut.
