Trio join Scorsese flick

Max von Sydow, Emily Mortimer and Jackie Earle Haley signed on to star in Martin Scorcese's Shutter Island, a mystery drama for Paramount. It already stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams and Patricia Clarkson.

Williams joins Island drama

Michelle Williams (Brokeback Mountain) is in final talks to portray Leonardo DiCaprio's wife in Shutter Island, a mystery drama to be directed by Martin Scorsese (The Departed). The film, scheduled to begin shooting in March, is about two U.S. marshals (DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo) who travel to an island to investigate the disappearance of a patient from a mental hospital. Ben Kingsley (Lucky Number Slevin) also stars.

Kingsley joins Scorcese's Island

Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo have some company on Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island. Ben Kingsley (Lucky Number Slevin) joined the cast of the film, playing a physician who must play host to visiting marshals DiCaprio and Ruffalo. Filming is expected to begin in March.

Ruffalo swims to the Island

Leonardo DiCaprio has some new company on Shutter Island. Mark Ruffalo (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) will co-star in the drama, to be directed by Martin Scorsese (The Departed). In the film, an adaptation of a 2004 novel by Dennis Lehane, Ruffalo will star as a U.S. Marshal who gets stuck on a island with partner DiCaprio after traveling there to investigate the disappearance of a hospital patient.

Scorsese and DiCaprio make it a four-peat

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio will team up for a fourth time early next year in the 1954 drama Shutter Island, an adaptation of a novel written by Dennis Lehane. Clint Eastwood previously turned another Lehane novel, Mystic River, into a hit film in 2003. Scorsese will direct and produce, and DiCaprio is in final talks to star as a U.S. Marshal charged with investigating the disappearance of a hospital escapee who is assumed to be residing on Shutter Island. Filming, expected to begin in March 2008, is likely to be in Massachusetts, Connecticut or Nova Scotia. Scorsese and DiCaprio previously worked together in The Departed in 2006, The Aviator in 2004 and Gangs of New York in 2002.
