Sony acquires Penelope Cruz drama
Samuel Goldwyn Films, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group and Netflix's Red Envelope Entertainment picked up Lakeshore Entertainment's Elegy, an all-star drama starring Penelope Cruz, Ben Kingsley, Dennis Hopper, Patricia Clarkson, Peter Sarsgaard and Deborah Harry. The film, an Isabel Coixet-adaptation of Philip Roth's short novel, The Dying Animal, is about a Cuban student (Cruz) whose professor (Kingsley) tries to seduce her.
