G.I. Joe director finds next project
Stephen Sommers is in talks to helm a big screen version of Tarzan for Warner Bros. If signed, the man will also co-write the script with Stuart Beattie.

Warner to Update Tarzan
Warner Bros. pictures will be updating Tarzan for a new generation of filmgoers. Producer Jerry Weintraub and the studio are developing a new movie for the loincloth-wearing jungleman. Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth; Hellboy) is in talks to direct and John Collee (Master and Commander: Far Side of the World) is negotiating a deal to write the script. Edgar Rice Burroughs originally created the character back in 1914, and Tarzan has since appeared in numerous forms via books, tv, film, and radio.
