Summit puts sci-fi flick back on radar
After a nearly three-year stall, a sci-fi action story based on a classic Twilight Zone episode is back in the pipeline. Summit is moving ahead with Countdown and attached its scribe Michael Brandt (3:10 to Yuma) to take over directorial duties. The story is about a group of astronauts who land on a distant planet and find remnants of a spacecraft and corpses that resemble their own. From there, the group is charged in finding out whether they may already be dead.

Manderlay starts Countdown
Summit Entertainment and Manderlay Pictures are joining forces as they produce Countdown, an adaptation of the Richard Matheson short story Death Ship. Michael Brandt and Derek Haas are currently handling the screenplay. The story revolves around astronauts who find themselves on a mysterious planet where they discover a duplicate of their ship. Onboard, they realize that their own bodies are there, and must work their way out of a time loop that has them in peril.
