Essential Entertainment lands its director
Music video extraordinaire Liz Friedlander will direct I Am Charlotte Simmons for Essential Entertainment. The story, based on the novel by Tom Wolfe, is about a country girl who tries to navigate through her freshman year at the fictional Dupont University.

Wolfe gets deal for Charlotte Simmons
Trilogy Entertainment and Syntax Entertainment have picked up the rights to the Tom Wolfe best seller I Am Charlotte Simmons. John Watson will write the screenplay, though no director has yet been attached. The book was ranked number 11 on Publisher's Weekly's end-of-year list for 2004. It centers on an innocent college freshman who comes from a small North Carolina town and tries to adapt to a contemporary college campus.
