Writer ready for Emily the Strange
Fox Animation has hired Matthew Weiss to write the screenplay for Emily the Strange, an adaptation of the teenage character created by Rob Reger. The sullen girl is a rail-thin 13-year-old who wears black clothes, has black hair and has some fairly dark adventures. The character was launched in 1993 on skateboards, stickers and T-shirts, and has grown into quite a cottage industry for her creator. Now Emily has an apparel line, a bestselling series of books, and a quarterly graphic novel. The movie is planned as primarily live-action, with some elements of animation interspersed.
