Panabaker takes a dip in Crystal Lake
Danielle Panabaker (Mr. Brooks) will play the female lead in New Line Cinema's update of the lucrative Friday the 13th franchise. Other cast members include Jared Padalecki and the recently signed Jonathan Sadowski, Travis van Winkle and Aaron Yoo.

Padalecki to star opposite Jason?
Jared Padalecki (CW's Supernatural) is in final talks to star in the remake of Friday the 13th, which was originally released in 1980 and featured a brief appearance by horror icon Jason Voorhees. The update, to be released on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, will focus on Jason, who will don the iconic hockey mask. If signed, Padalecki will play the lead investigator.

Jason returns
Following the success of recent reimaginings of Halloween and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a Friday the 13th update is in the works. Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the screenplay, and Marcus Nispel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) is in final negotiations to direct. The project is expected to begin filming in the winter.

Bay ready for Friday
Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production company has come aboard to produce the next outing in New Line Cinema's Friday the 13th franchise. The studio is hoping to fast-track the project in hopes of releasing the film on Friday, October 13th. Mark Wheaton will write the screenplay.
