Phillips takes Flight

Australian actor Nathan Phillips will star opposite Samuel L. Jackson in Pacific Air Flight 121, formerly known as Snakes on a Plane for New Line Cinema. Directed by David Ellis, the movie centers on an assassin who releases a crate of poisonous snakes on a plane to eliminate a witness who is in protective custody.

Jackson boards Flight 121

Samuel L. Jackson is in negotiations to star in Flight 121 (formerly known as Snakes on a Plane) for New Line. The movie will be directed by David Ellis from a screenplay written by John Heffernan, and a rewrite from Sebastian Gutierrez. Jackson will play an FBI agent who has been undergoing a long quest to bring a mob boss to justice. He finds a witness and takes them on a flight from Hawaii to L.A. The catch? The mob boss has loaded the cargo with a variety of venomous snakes.

Yu doesn't like Snakes

Director Ronny Yu has departed the project Snakes on a Plane. New Line Cinema will replace him with Cellular helmer David Ellis. Yu will continue to work with New Line on Freddy vs. Jason 2. Snakes on a Plane was written by John Heffernan and David Loucka and is a thriller where a witness to a mob hit has to travel from Hawaii to the mainland in order to testify. On his flight to the states is a crate of 250 poisonous snakes, which are intended to prevent the witness from reaching his ultimate destination.
