Reiner recasts Graduate update

Rob Reiner, who replaced Ted Griffin as director after the screenwriter was fired due to creative differences, has recast several roles in the untitled project, which stars Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Costner. Charlie Hunnam, Leslie Ann Warren, Tony Bill and Greta Scacchi have all been scratched. They’ve been replaced by Mike Vogel, Kathy Bates, Chris McDonald, and an actor to be named later. Warner Bros. is likely to completely scrap footage filmed by Griffin, which is normal practice in these situations.

Rob Reiner takes reins from Ted Griffin

Ted Griffin, who wrote the screenplays for Ocean's Eleven and Matchstick Men, has been replaced by Rob Reiner as director of the Warner Bros. romantic comedy that advances the story of the graduate. The film stars Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Costner and was only ten days into production. Griffin still has the scripting credit for the film, which also stars Shirley MacLaine and Mark Ruffalo. The studio has officially stated that Griffin left the project due to creative differences, and Variety reports that Griffin was believed to be spending more time setting up shots than working with the actors. Additionally, Aniston had apparently made comments that the dailies didn't seem to have the right comic feel.
